Fill In The Blank Fridays!

Happy Friday! Once again it's fill in the blank Friday's brought to you by this beautiful blog (make sure you stop by and pay her a visit!)

1.   My Halloween plans this year will include    eating German food and watching classic horror films on AMC with MB and Nate. Maybe get some Psycho, Halloween, Hocus Pocus, etc. :)

2.  My most memorable Halloween costume was   In fifth grade, I dressed up like in my German clothes, which wasn't that hard since I basically wore a traditional German dress.  But the reason it was so memorable wasn't really about the costume, but just how excited Oma was that I went all out (we're talking fake Edelweiss flowers and all.) It made her really happy to see me dress in my German clothes and seeing her happy, makes me happy.

3.  For Halloween this year I'm going to be     if I'm feeling up to it, flapper girl. I have a legit flapper dress and a vintage hat from the 1920's. I don't really have chances to dress up like this, so I'll take advantage of it ;)

4.  I've always wanted to dress up as   Sailor Moon

5.  Halloween free association!      fresh popcorn, Halloween movie marathons, chocolate, seeing Nate's face when he examines the "body part gummies," lots of pictures and dressing up for fun .

6.  The worst thing about Halloween is     well we thought it was going to be in the 80's with humidity this weekend but turns out it's going to be cold, so yeah...

7.  The best thing about Halloween is      seeing children so excited to get dressed up and get candy. Babies dressed in costumes are the highlight of my Halloween, every year.

Christ and Carolina!

I want this license plate,
please make it happen.

CRU Fall Retreat!

One thing we all look forward to in CRU, is defiantly our Triad Metro Fall Retreat! Graciously and surprisingly, I entered a raffle and won a scholarship and got to go for free. And even more surprisingly, the retreat wasn't much of a retreat at all cause it took place in my hometown! (which was nice because MB and I went to spend Saturday afternoon with my family.) The weekend itself was incredible. There's nothing quite like getting a group of believers together and spending a weekend praising our Savior. So blessed to be involved in CRU and being able to have opportunities like this!

Our UNCG CRU group,
we made up most of the people at the retreat.
It's really a blessing compared to how small we were last year!

It's when I'm outside do I feel closest to God.
Beautiful view of the cross from across the lake <3

Nate, me, and MB in front of the CRU sign
after a great night of worship.

the dance on Saturday night was "ho down" themed.
we make some mighty fine cowboys/girls.
(except Katie who purposely dressed like a city girl,
to play the part of "city cousin who comes to visit her redneck family."
nicely done.)

My lovely brother, Nate and I
rockin' the plaid the cowboy hat.

Nate playing along to
"The Devil Went Down to Georgia."
He was quite a smash with everyone!

MB and I decked out in our "southern" shirts from Target.
(it took us two hours to decide on our costumes haha)

my beautiful Bible study ladies.
we have way too much fun
(way too often!)

I am one blessed lady
to have the awesome God I have,
and the incredible people
He has put in my life.

another man in my life.

I have yet another man in my life,
my precious baby cousin, Bradley.

When we went to visit this newest member of my family,
he had slept the entire afternoon (even while being passed
around the room to be held by my family.)
But the moment they passed him to me, his bright, wide
eyes looked up right at me and just stared at me, taking my finger and
holding on tight. I have never felt a flood of
emotions quite like that before, tears streamed down
my face the whole time I held him.
So much love for this child.
I can't wait to see what God has in store for him,
for us.

Truth Is...

"At the end of the day, when it comes down to it, all we really want is to be close to somebody. So this thing where we all keep our distance and pretend not to care about each other, it's usually a load of bull. So we pick and choose who we want to remain close to, and once we've chosen those people, we tend to stick close by. No matter how much we hurt them. The people that are still with you at the end of the day, those are the ones worth keeping. And sure, sometimes close can be too close. But sometimes, that invasion of personal space, it can be exactly what you need." -Grey's Anatomy

It's Fill In The Blank Friday, Loves!

It's fill in the blank Friday's! Want to join in on the fun? Go to this lovely blog :)

1.   The first thing I do in the morning to start my day is thank God for letting me live in His beautiful world.

2.  Today I wish I was not sick.

3.  If I had an extra $100 in my bank account today I'd put it towards a new Nikon camera :)

4.  Tomorrow I will be hopefully working if my voice decides to come back to me anytime soon. And spend the evening with my family.

5.  Two things that don't go together are crying when you're sick and cold nights. Ha. Yeah...awesome Tuesday this week, let me tell ya!

6.  Something I can never pass up at the grocery store is good cheese, bread, and salami. Yum!

7.  The last time I tried something new was last Friday night when I made a market run with MB in my pajama's and Saturday when I climbed (/got dragged by Nate) up the cascades of Rough Ridge. Talk about a trust challenge!

Gutentag Germany!

Trips to Boone equals care packages from Oma and Opa,
full of bread, cheese, salami, German potato salad, home grown
tomatoes, and pound cake.
What better way to enjoy it than to go all out German?

German food and German music,
let's get this party started!

Nate enjoyed that potato salad just a little too much.

how flattering, really.

as if there was a better picture to describe our
relationship, than this one?

getting down to the best music around :)

story of my life, always.

in case you didn't know,
the chicken dance originated in Germany.
This amazing discovery led to this even more amazing
facial expression! Love!

What fun dinner adventures have you all had?

Watch Out For That Yellow Snow

It's time to reveal the Lawndale Christmas Spectacular!
And what better way than to have par-tay?
Never fails, every party at Lawndale, follows a theme.
This party was ACC,
sporting the Tar Heels baby.
(and the random lime green pom poms)

the best part about this party?
Definitely, getting up on stage with Mr. B to rap
about snow. What was the best line, you ask?
"snow snow snow, look at that snow, got to watch out
where the huskies go, snow snow, don't eat the yellow snow."
nicely done.

Last Days of Summer

Summer has started to come to an end,
chilly air is setting in

So what do the final days of summer hold?
