Phone Failure.

Nate's phone hates my phone and refuses to space the words in the texts that he sends me.  Soeveythingrunstogetherlikethis, understand? Which can be trouble when he texts me in German like he often does.  Today I brought up the issue of his space key and he didn't understand what I was trying to say to him.  His response to my complaint was in German, of course.  So I had to google translate it... which is much harder than expected since I don't know where the spaces go in the words.

I've spent an hour attempting to translate his text:
hmmmmmichvertehedichnicht. hastduvergangenheitsbewarltigungdann?

and these are the multiple results:
try one: ich verste dich nicht. hast du vergangen heis bewaelti gung dann?
translation: I do not understand. Did you cope with supply heist gone then?

try two: ich verste dich nicht. hast du vergangen heis bewae ltigung dann?
translation: I do not understand. Have you gone about hot irrigated management then?

try three: ich verste dich nicht. hast du vergangen heis bewaeltigung dann?
translation: I do not understand. Have you gone about hot coping then?

try four: ich verste dich nicht. hast du vergangen heis be waeltigung dann?
translation: I do not understand.  Have you gone about hot resolving conflicts be then?

eventually I just gave up and called Nate asking him what it meant.  He said he forgot but I refuse to give in! I've spent the last hour continuing to translate this text just to see the results of it.  Who knew German could be so complicated? Sheesh.

So it you're reading this and you happen to know what it means, let me know :)

Happy Monday, loves!!

Behind.

I'm so behind on blogging, there are so many updates in store for you all! So be prepared that many of the upcoming blogs are actually old news that I'm just late at posting, sorry about that!
But currently it's 1:01 am and I'm watching Grey's Anatomy in a hotel room at Myrtle Beach. Mary-Beth won't pick up the phone, Zach is away with Alex and Corbin, and the "never fail me" Nate has decided to rename my brother to Pavic instead of Patrick, because it sounds more communist.  Germany won the soccer game today and my brother is in a wheelchair.  Yep, that's right, Big Pat got taken down at a basketball tournament and has a broken ankle.  Oh what fun sand and sea is when you're wearing a huge black boot. But on a happier note, Fossil had a HUGE sale today and I treated myself to a watch, new ring, and wallet.  My love for fossil is so bad but I just can't help myself.  Annnnnnnnd my TOMS have come in the mail and thanks to the vote of almost all my friends I broke down and bought the blue vegan ones and LOVE them.

This summer I've set goals for myself, it's going to be the summer of Annaliese- when I actually do things for myself.  I'm considering changing my major, actually reading literature this summer, playing bassoon for fun, finishing up the architecture drawing Nate and I started months ago, learning guitar, and contemplating joining the Cru rec basketball team.  Let's see how it goes. Nate saved me from a medical malfunction at 12:30 in the morning last week (again, Nate to the rescue, so blessed he calls when he does.) He challenged me to take 2 hours to just talk to God after my quiet time and needless to say it was well worth the challenge.  And along with that challenge came the pointing out that in the amount of time I spend on facebook, I could praying. So I'm facebook fasting and it's quite a success! Probably one of the best decisions I've made in a long time.

So basically, this is my road to "making Annaliese happy" instead of the road to "making everyone else happy." Wish me luck and say a prayer, we'll see how it goes.

So stick around for blog updates on the summer, sorry I've been a slacker but it'll be worth the wait.

I love NYC

I love NYC, but really I love Chicago a lot more, but most of all I love this awesome t-shirt that Nate got me for my birthday.  Since I couldn't go on the missions trip to NYC this spring he got me a shirt instead and it makes for awesome summer clothing.  Because really, what do I consist of besides t-shirts, jeans, and organic flip flops? Not much, welcome to summer people.

p.s. ordered my toms, woot woot!
p.s.s did you know that you can't put "<3" in the title of your blog?
how strange.

Need You Now

"It's a quarter after one, I'm all alone and I need you now..."

Last night was one of those nights when you feel like the whole world is crashing on you.  Nate and MB always tell me to call or text them whenever I felt this way so they could help me.  I always felt guilty calling them because it usually hits late at night, but for once, I called Nate anyway.  It amazes me that no matter what time of night it is, he always picks up the phone, even if he is groggy with sleep. Hearing him call me kiddo and telling me that he's got my back, that he's praying for me, and that I'm not alone, makes me feel better in just a few minutes.  Sometimes we all just need that reassurance that our family is always with us in spirit, even if they are really 45 minutes away from you.  I'm blessed to be the "little sister" of such a devoted boy, the kind who always picks up the phone even if it does interrupt his sleep. It doesn't matter what time of night it is, we could all set aside a little time for the people we love when they really need us. Often I feel like I'm the only one who needs the help but I've learned that the endless support that Nate and MB give me, only makes us stronger. Us, as a whole.  We have all learned from each other and we've all learned to give love no matter what the circumstance and no matter what time it is. That's what God expects of us, and that's what we must do for Him and for each other.  It's giving world, we just have to open up our hearts to it.

Create.

Junk to treasure.
I found this old flower box in my grandpa's basement
(previously white and dingy)
and took it home to spray paint into this pretty purple
with blue highlights and paint a quote from the amazing
children's book, "The Next Place.
Summer is a time for creating new things,
and this has been one of my favorite projects :)

Bones.

my summer has consisted of one thing,
Bones.
Being a music major, I never had the chance to
watch t.v. during the school year.
So this summer, my addiction to
Bones has been pretty pathetic.
But the more I watch it,
the more I realize that MB, Nate, and I,
are very much like Angela, Booth, and Bones.
We even have proof...

look familiar?

we thought so too.

Local finds that made me smile (and/or laugh)

two seater bike at the local antique mall.
my father added that he could totally picture
me and Nate riding into traffic on this bike.
Thanks dad.

if it wasn't so old, I would totally buy this
for Nate. It may not be in the best
playing condition but the detail is beautiful!

BAHAHAHAHAHA!

Dear Nate,
you can thank the shoppers of Wal-Mart for this one.

Thrifty.

This thrift shop find was a totally epic win.
 I'm a Fossil girl myself but $5.00
for a Vera Bradley purse, I'll take it.

There's a Storm a Brewing

The storms have been awful here in the triad area and have caused a bit of damage to the town. I walked into work the other day with the power completely out down the whole street of Dixie Drive.  So what do you do in Lowes Foods when there's no power? You put plastic up to protect the food from heat, you mop up the millions of leaks that have flooded the backroom, you watch the boys play zombies around the store, and then watch them play an intense game of flashlight tag. Welcome to Club LF's, it's quite a party when the publics not around.

HOORAY!!

my free K-Love bumper sticker has finally come into the mail,
day has been made!

Really?

I literally laughed out loud when I saw this.
To think we need Twilight to explain anything.
Gracious what has the world come to?

Reminder.

Fresh Fall

the beauty of architecture in snow,
amazes me.

Deutschland!!

I'm not a big soccer fan, I prefer basketball, but between my brother and Nate, how could I not root for our country? Not to mention an amazing win earlier today... maybe we might just have this in the bag, we'll see. But for now ESPN will not be turned off in my house and Nate's status updates will remain the German anthem, looks like I won't be getting away from it so I might as well embrace it! Go Germany!

We're All A Little Guilty.

"She wants to know if I love her, that is all anyone wants from anyone else, not love itself, but the knowledge that love is there, like new batteries in the flashlight in the emergency kit in the hall closet."
